Jonathan Ross versus Songs of Praise – which does the BBC prefer? By Edward Leigh MP

portrait-edwardleigh5I see a group of bishops complain today that despite the fact that Songs of Praise gets virtually the same number of viewers as Jonathan Ross’s show – 3 to 4 million – it receives a fraction of the financial support from the BBC.

I note certainly that BBC executives love shunting around its time so it’s difficult to remember when to watch – all the more inconvenient for its many older viewers.

I suspect that but for its stubborn ability to retain its audience, it would have been shunted off to some limbo-land long ago.
