Is there really such a thing as a mercy killing? Is it right that people should be assisted to take their own lives even though the assistance might be minimal? Should taking one’s own life be considered a right anyway?
Massive questions which deserve deep consideration – but that just isn’t happening and the Crown Prosecution Service appears to be interpreting the law of its volition and that certainly can’t be right.
So how should we react?
We should firstly recognise that life is God given. Simplistic but central to Christian belief and I believe vital to a humane and compassionate society.
The opportunity we would provide to the unscrupulous and downright evil if we did otherwise would be too great to contemplate.
